PAD, FLOOR POLISHING MACHINE (THIN)

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to types II and V of Interim Federal Specification OO-P-0040.

This commercial item description covers two types of thin, floor maintenance pads used for polishing, buffing, scrubbing, and stripping floors. The round, thin floor pads shall be suitable for mounting on power-driven, rotary-disc type floor maintenance machines, operating in a speed range between 150 and 350 rpm. The rectangular floor pads are for mounting on the oscillating type floor maintenance machines. The floor pads are intended for heavy duty floor care maintenance and shal1 be suitable for use on various type floors.

The round, thin pad is recommended only for specific uses when the pad is to be discarded after each use such as hospitals; i.e., operating rooms, contagious disease wards, and other areas where isolation is required; also small office areas that do not have the capability to wash and dry the reusable and hence more economical thick pads.

The floor pads shall be of the following types and classes (see notes).

Type I - Thin f1oor pads, nylon

(6.5mm (1/4 inch) minimum thick)

Class 1 – Buffing and polishing

Class 2 - Scrubbing

Class 3 - Stripping

Type II - Thin floor pad, nylon and polyester

(10 mm (3/8-inch) minimum thick)

Class 1 - Buffing and polishing

Class 2 - Scrubbing

Class 3 - Stripping
