COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SCRUBBING MACHINE, FLOOR, ELECTRIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers one type of electrically operated floor scrubbing machine for heavy duty floor scrubbing and cleaning.
2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Design and construction. The scrubbing machine shall have a heavy duty sheet metal outer shell and supported by structural steel frame. The gears, sprockets, chains, belts, and pulleys shall be enclosed. The brush and vacuum motors shall be 3/4 HP minimum. The electrical component and motor housing shall be waterproof. The scrubbing machine shall be designed for single or twin brush operation with e minimum 20 inch total brush spread and 22 inch minimum squeegee swing. The scrubbing machine shall be electrically powered, self propelled, and shall be suitable for 120 volt, 60 hertz operation or, when specified, 240 volt, 50 hertz operation. The machine shall come with a 75 foot long minimum electric cord, 3 conductor and 14 gauge minimum wire.
2.2 Capacity of cleaning area and tanks. The scrubbing machine shall be capable of scrub cleaning and squeegee drying a minimum of 10,000 square feet of floor space per hour. The cleaning solution shall automatically stop flowing when machine is off. The solution tank shall have a 9 gallon minimum capacity and the waste tank shall have a 12 gallon minimum capacity.
2.3 Wheels and casters. The scrubbing machine shall be mounted on two rigid rear wheels and two front swivel teeters. The wheels and casters shall have non-marking rubber or synthetic tires.
